COPENHAGEN

Now, I don't know about you, but this week (and every week for the rest of the year) i'm feeling 22 (waited so long to sing that, thanks Tay Swift). To celebrate, Josh and I flew to Denmark's capital for a surprise birthday treat!

We started the day off by talking a walk to a nearby food market called Torvehallerne that was actually FILLED to the brim with pastries and coffee like you wouldn't even imagine. But seeing as though we left the house at 3am and ate a cheese toastie and matcha late before the sun had even come up I wasn't really hungry enough to stomach something else.

Josh had already been to Denmark before and scouted out some locations he wanted to take me to when we went together, so we started by walking to Nyhavn where all the cute coloured houses were (and still a little snow from the week before) before heading off to go and see the little mermaid statue because this 22 year old is a BIG fairytale fan and Josh was definitely more than happy to walk 30 minutes out of the way we were supposed to be heading just so we could see the statue over the heads of approximately 12 tourists because I just really like mermaids...worth it.

We then headed for lunch at  Skagen Fiskerestaurant Illum ROOFTOP where we ate pizza with views over the city that were amazing, before heading off to do some more shopping because Copenhagen has THE coolest places to shop in on every corner and everyone is just so cool there, I couldn't stop staring at everyone's outfits.

Next we went to Tivoli Gardens which was somewhere i wanted to go to since Josh told me about it from his last trip. It's the second oldest operating amusement park in the world and thankfully, after that trustworthy introduction, no rides were open because it was the winter. So instead of risking our lives on rides that were 170 odd years old, we went for a walk around the park (which is super cute anyway) before coming across the sweetest little greenhouse with fire pits where we could roast marshmallows sitting under blankets

We sat there for ages talking and roasting (attempting? Josh didn't quite have the art of roasting down and he wouldn't let me touch the fire because, well, it's me, so the whole thing was just very sticky) our marshmallows by the fire, and when we finally couldn't feel out feet from the cold, we headed to the bar Josh picked out to chill some more.

That big white beautiful building in the snowy picture isn't actually a magical castle (had you fooled, I know) but the nicest hotel and bar tucked away behind the elaborate front. It's called the Nimb Bar and I would definitely recommend a visit if you're ever in Copenhagen because it was the perfect way to end the day.

We had some drinks and warmed by yet another fire before heading home after yet another fun trip courtesy of JG.

Every birthday gets better and better!
