February is my favourite month, because it's still winter (which I love) but it doesn't seem nearly as depressing as January does. I mean, it also helps that it is my birthday month (the 8th, just in case anyone was wondering ;) but there is also another holiday that takes place just after my birthday that some people love, and some people hate- Valentines day...
Now I've never been a massive lover of Valentines day because I think that love should be celebrated, given and received 365 days of the year. However, If you know me, you know that I can't help getting festive during any holiday. I don't love Halloween, but I can't resist some spooky themed baking. Pancake day? I'm planning my topping station a week in advance. Easter egg hunts were always a tradition at our university house, and of course the king of all holidays...Christmas. I don't even need to elaborate on that one because everyone knows how much I love that holiday. RIP Christmas, until next year... (miss you)
Anyway! When an exciting email landed in my inbox from one of my favourite companies, Biscuiteers, about collaborating with them for their new valentines day products, of course I couldn't say no!
If you haven't heard of Biscuiteers (firstly where have you been?) they're a London based biscuit boutique with shops based in Notting Hill and Battersea. The shops themselves are as beautiful as their biscuits, with the outside vintage decor perfectly recreated on the tins of their biscuit collections. If you want to see what I mean, check out THIS POST from my trip to Notting Hill last spring where you can peek the shop in all it's cuteness. They also have icing cafes for all you creative bakers out there were you can learn skills from the best bakers in town.
Josh is always saying he would rather spend his money on something to buy me that lasts more than a week, instead of using flowers as a romantic gesture, and so biscuits would be the perfect alternative! (I love the Beatrix Potter ones, Hint Hint) Because why give flowers, when you could give biscuits? Not that I really think that these are going to last more than a week to be honest...
The collection I was kindly sent is the Personalised Vintage Love Letter Collection* and it is the most beautiful collection of hand-iced biscuits. Inspired by vintage love letters, the biscuits are iced to perfect shapes of red post boxes, white doves, British stamps and little letters that remind me of my trip to Juliet's house in Verona last summer (and the film letters to Juliet, how great is that film?!) . The letter can be personalised with a message of up to 26 characters, which is the perfect way to add a special touch to the gift. And if you aren't easily distracted by how good things look and are just wondering about the taste? Incredible. Buttery vanilla flavours with just the right amount of icing. Not too sweet, but sweet enough to want to eat another after finishing one. To me they taste just like all butter fudge, and you can't beat that in my books.
What I love about this collection is that it isn't too romantic that you feel like it's a collection exclusively for a significant other. If you walk past any card or gift shop this time of year, the amount of red, love heart themed products are overwhelming! But this little biscuit gift is subtle enough that it can be sent to anyone who deserves a little extra love in your life- a friend, a colleague, a family member, the list could go on! I mean, of course if I received this as a gift from Josh, I would be over the moon, At Christmas I actually purchased the limited edition Selfridges collection of biscuits for him as a little extra and he loved it, so I can confirm that these kinds of gifts go down a treat!
There is such a rage of designs and prices to suit a variety of budgets, so gift giving doesn't have to be a struggle if you are unsure of what to buy. I am OBSESSED with the Mr Men and the Beatrix Potter collections, and I will definitely be dropping some hints for those around my birthday time. If you have never heard of the company, I hope this post encourages you to have a little browse on their site and look at all the other goodies they have on there.
A huge thank you to Biscuiteers for sending me across these Biscuits! Now to boil the kettle and dig in to a couple (or 5)...
* The biscuits were kindly sent to me by Biscuiteers but genuine love of the company and it's products are all my own. This post uses affiliate links.
